Photobook – Why has my cover size changed?

Have you seen this message pop up?

caution - cover change

“The cover size has changed. Please check your cover before you order.”

This is a message that pops up when you are adding pages to your photobook. It doesn’t happen every time you add 2 pages to the photobook, but at some point (different for each photobook) this message will pop up. And if you add more pages in some photobooks it will even pop up twice… (in the 30x30cm photobook for example it happens when adding pages 41 – 42 and then again at 75 – 76).

Why is that and do I need to worry about it?

No, you don’t need to worry about it (but you do have to take some action – see below), the software is just giving you the heads up that because you have been adding pages to the photobook, the size of the spine now has to change. It just means a fatter / wider spine so all the pages fit in it nicely.

All you need to do is check if your covers need adjusting. Just double-check that everything is still in the right place and don’t forget to check the spine! The text on the spine can be made a little bit larger if you like with a thicker spine too.

You don’t need to do anything about selecting a bigger cover / spine or anything like that – that is all done automatically for you. The warning is just to make sure you have a look at your front cover, back cover and spine and make sure they are still looking the way you want them to look!

If you don’t check the covers and spine and you finish the photobook and want to order  you will get this message:

error cover change

If you are sure the covers and the spine are fine all you need to do to get rid of this error message and proceed with the order process is click on the covers. That’s it. It will actually prevent you from ordering if you don’t.

Now the same thing can happen when you need to delete some pages. At some point the same caution message will pop up, this time because the covers and spine need to made smaller. Again, all you have to do is check the covers and spine to make sure everything still is the way you want it to be.

Enjoy adding pages!
